Hi, I’m Michael Kinard, the Associate Pastor of Pastoral Care and Forever Young (Seniors 55+) here at Concord. I am from Easley, SC, and I am married to Lori Beck Kinard of Anderson, SC (February 7, 1998). We have three wonderful children: James (born in 2000), who serves in the Air Force; Lorianne Kinard Taylor (born in 2002), who is married to Zac Taylor (as of 2024) and works for Daniel Builders/Zion Architecture; and Michaela (born in 2005), who is homeschooled. God has been good to us over the past 27 years, and we are grateful for all the Lord has done in us, through us, and for us.
I received a BA in Liberal Studies with a concentration in History from Anderson College (94). My Master of Divinity is from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (97). God used both schools to shape my biblical understanding and deepen my desire to proclaim the truth of His Word to a world that desperately needs Jesus. My life verse, which became especially meaningful during my years of study, is Colossians 1:28-29:
“Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. To this end, I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.”
Having served in Student Ministry for about 14 ½ years in various churches, the Lord opened the door for me to serve as a full-time pastor at Providence Baptist Church. My family was blessed to serve there for 15 years.
The Lord then led me to a role at Anderson Interfaith Ministries (AIM), where I had incredible opportunities to serve our community in ways I had never experienced before. During my 15-month tenure at AIM, God also brought my family to Concord Baptist Church. This season allowed us to simply attend church—without the pressures of leadership—which provided much-needed rest and renewal for both our family and me personally. Very quickly, Concord became home.
Then, in His goodness, God opened the door for me to serve as the Church Administrator here on January 31, 2022. In March 2023, the Lord transitioned me into my current role as Associate Pastor of Senior Adults and Pastoral Care. Concord has truly become home and family to Lori, Michaela, and me.
